Introduced in 2015, the Mercedes-Benz GLC is a medium-sized SUV that takes inspiration from the iconic Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Engine choice is cutting-edge, with mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid options, along with familiar petrol and diesel choices.

Power ranges from 200bhp to 270bhp depending on regular GLC versions, but each variant offers typical Mercedes-Benz premium feel and refinement, along with fine performance and attractive economy. The plug-in hybrid version can also offer a fully electric range of around 80 miles.

Petrol engines return around 38mpg, whilst the diesels offer around 53mpg. The plug-in hybrid versions of the petrol and diesel promise an economy of over 500mpg and 700mpg, respectively, but in reality, you will get much less, albeit the figures will still be very impressive.

Naturally, there are Mercedes-AMG versions of the GLC, with the GLC 43, whilst the real highlight is the GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE, with its 671bhp on tap, allowing for 0 to 62mph in just 3.5 seconds. Running costs vary on spec, but allow considerably more for AMG versions.

The GLC is a practical SUV too, with a 620-litre boot, although hybrid versions have a reduced space of 470 litres.

Looking at the onboard technology, the GLC comes with a portrait-style 11.9-inch infotainment system that is equipped with MBUX. Connectivity to smartphones is simple and easy, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming pre-installed.
