Why buy an Approved Used Mercedes-Benz SLC?
The Mercedes-Benz SLC (previously known as the SLK) is a two-seat, convertible that has proven ever popular amongst those that want an engaging driving experience and an impressive level of luxury. Having been discontinued in 2020, used SLC models prove to be fantastic value and certainly stand out from the crowd.
Smooth is perhaps the best way to describe the driving experience of the SLC, and there are a number of powertrains to choose from. Entry-level petrol options such as the SLC 180 offer the greatest value, but the trade-off comes in the form of performance. More powerful options such as the SLC 300 or SLC 43 AMG are certainly the most sought after, as they offer a proper sports-car feel and impressive performance figures, topping out at 385bhp. There is even a diesel option, if you plan on completing longer journeys.
Despite being a two-seat convertible, practicality is also better than one may initially think. There is 355 litres of boot space with the roof up, which is more than what the popular A-Class offers. It does fall to around 225 litres with the roof folded down, but this is still enough for a couple of bags for a weekend getaway. Servicing and maintenance is a little more expensive than budget-oriented models due to the SLC's premium nature, but it is not unreasonable. Specialist servicing and aftercare can be taken care of at your nearest Stratstone Mercedes-Benz retailer.
Yes, much like other Mercedes-Benz models, the SLC often scores well on owner surveys and long-term tests. There are not that many common faults reported either, but elements to look our for when browsing used models include electrical and infotainment issues. All used SLC models available through Stratstone undergo extensive pre-sale inspections to ensure they are only of the highest standards.
The two terms actually refer to the same model, with the SLK being the previous name for the SLC. The SLC name was introduced in 2017 as part of a mid-life update to the third generation SLK. So, SLC models are generally newer, while SLK models are older, but both offer a very similar experience.
This is really down to personal preference as both are fantastic options if you are in the market for a used convertible. Both feature striking looks, an engaging driving experience and a high level of luxury features. We recommend test driving both options to determine which feels like the perfect match.
The SLC was discontinued as part of Mercedes-Benz' push to streamline its line-up. Other convertible options such as the C-Class and SL are typically more popular, so production for the SLC ended in 2020. Despite being discontinued, it still remains as a fantastic choice for those looking for some top-down, luxury fun.
