Why buy an Approved Used Mercedes-AMG GT?

Introduced in 2015, the Mercedes-AMG GT was the second car made in-house by Mercedes-AMG. Here we have the second generation, which was on sale from 2024.

High performance is guaranteed with all versions of the AMG GT, starting with the 2.0-litre 416bhp four-cylinder turbo found in the GT 43. 0 to 62mph takes 4.6 seconds and features rear-wheel drive.

The rest of the range uses a 4.0-litre V8 with varying power levels. AMG GT 55 4MATIC + Premium plus produces 469bhp, with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. This drops the 0 to 62mph time to just 3.9 seconds. The AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ produces 577bhp, dropping the 0 to 62mph time to 3.2 seconds.

Step up to the range-topping Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance Ultimate Coupé, and thanks to 805bhp and plug-in hybrid technology, 0 to 62mph drops to an epic 2.8 seconds. All models feature an automatic transmission.

You do not buy a car like this and expect low running costs or decent practicality. Either way, there is a 321-litre boot, which increases to 675 litres with the rear seats folded. However, the range-topper with PHEV is reduced to just 182 litres.

Is the AMG GT considered a supercar?

The Mercedes-AMG GT offers incredible performance, with the range-topping version hitting 62mph from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds, which is faster than many supercars. However, the entry-level 43 version takes 4.6 seconds, which can be beaten by some hot hatchbacks. The car is more of a Super GT (grand tourer) to take on the likes of the Porsche 911.

Is the AMG GT reliable?

Excellent build quality and its range-topping AMG nature help ensure the AMG GT is a reliable car.

Does the AMG GT handle well?

Yes, the AMG GT does handle well due to its AMG specialist high performance. 4MATIC all-wheel drive in some versions helps this even further for grip.

What differentiates an AMG from a non-AMG?

Non-AMG Mercedes-Benz models tend to be more about comfort and brisk performance, whilst Mercedes-AMG models have much more of a high-performance focus, with more horsepower, acceleration, and feel, and are generally more dynamic and appear more aggressive in their styling.
