Revealed in 2023, the Mercedes-Benz CLE replaced both the C-Class Coupé and E-Class Coupé, to help streamline the Mercedes-Benz range.

Petrol and diesel engines are available, with some using mild hybrid technology to boost performance and economy. And of course, there is a range-topping Mercedes-AMG version in the form of the CLE 53, which features 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a 3.0-litre petrol engine producing 443bhp, good for a 0 to 62mph time of just 4.2 seconds.

Of course, more docile engines like the CLE 300 feature a 2.0-litre petrol with 4MATIC, for a more modest 6.2 second 0 to 62mph time, thanks to 255bhp on demand from the engine. There is also a PHEV version, which offers around 70 miles of electric range, too.

Running costs are pretty reasonable considering the premium nature, as insurance groups range from 35 to 45 (50 being the highest) for all CLE models, including the AMG variant. Servicing can be done professionally at any Stratstone Mercedes-Benz retailer.

As for practicality, the CLE is a two-door coupé, so expectations should match the car's nature, but there is a still a decent 420-litre boot, but this is dented to 290 litres in the PHEV version.

The onboard technology also focuses on practicality, as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come pre-installed in MBUX, Mercedes-Benz infortainment system.
